Day in the Life

I’m a person that likes to communicate with people. I’m easy in inviting new friends and meeting other people. It’s always my pleasure to talk to people, and I’ve helped people in ways that I never thought I could.
I never thought of being a therapist, but I will, I will go into it. Cause I see that I’m actually good at it, but what I actually want to become is an accountant. That’s my dream.
I don’t picture myself studying in Cape Town anymore. I feel like I want to go overseas to Australia, study there. So when I’m studying there, I want to work in a bank, like, yeah.
I chose the topic of being in the work and profession because of, I have those subjects and I always find them interesting to know how people started working, what they got to become and like, what challenges they faced before becoming in the profession

Day in the Life

Photography keeps me busy. It’s more of a business. I don’t make money out of it. I do metric polls, weddings and events like clubs. Events are more fun for me. You see, definitely emotions at this. I want to be an accountant, so I can fulfill my mother’s dreams. Also, I want to be a photographer, because I want to capture people’s different, different emotions.  But I’d love to look after old people, or disabled kids.

Day in the Life

My name is Blake Arendse, and my favorite subject is mathematics. My personality, I’m always sleeping, always eating, always straightforward.

I’ve chosen the topic, what could I have become. I think the reason why I chose that topic is to see how hard some people’s jobs are, and ask them a few questions, how do they get there. Because I’m trying to follow the same steps. I want to  study.

I don’t want people to see Delft as a bad place. My photos will show the people that, it’s not. And life in Delft is actually, um,  Most people describe Delft as a dangerous place, but it’s not a dangerous place. It’s actually a place where most love is. But it is a hard life, right?  And it’s where I feel safe also.

I’ve learnt that you must be proud of your heritage. You must always be proud of yourself.  And,, you know, always be proud of your heritage.

I’m originally from Johannesburg but I moved to Cape Town in grade 8. I really love history, I’m a history fanatic. I’m a self taught history fanatic. I live in Delft now, which is a very loving and heartwarming community. My family is a typical South African family, very big, loving, and funny. My community Delft is very loving, some people see it as dangerous but I see it as somewhere for families to grow.

What I hope my pictures will bring to light is that people of the world will understand what south africa is actually about. Not just poverty but actually happiness, love, and growth.

Hey guys, I am Theo, 16 years old and a student of the Fritz-Greve-Gymnasium.

I live with my parents and my bigger brother(Carl). The village, where i live is very small, we are round about 49 villagers, near to our village is a lake, some corn-fields and a forest. It is a not very exiting place, but somehow very pleasant to live.

My hobbys are: Sport, cooking, playing video games and building small things. I really try to find a balance between them, but i have not often the motivation to really build something, so i mostly cook for my family, make sport and play video games.

My Family Tree

My name is Lilly and I am in year 10 at the Fritz-Greve-Gymnasium in Malchin. My school is relatively small with around 300 pupils, but we have lots of activities like the project with Sabina. I come from a small village in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Gielow to be precise. This year, my school is offering me the opportunity to take part in a photo project. The project deals with various clichés and the aim is to get rid of them. There were various groups to choose from, I personally opted for the group “My family tree”. Because of my interest in history, this group was just right for me. My 93-year-old great-grandfather has an extraordinary biography, which I would like to make accessible and record for the general public. My intention is to get to know my family history better and to educate people about the post-war period.

Hello, my name is Nick. I’m 16 years old and live in the small town of Maleh in Germany. My family situation is quite simple: I am an only child and my parents have been happily married for over 20 years.

For many years I have been fascinated by technology in many forms. Whether it’s the big fire engine, which I often ride in, or the camera to “capture” the world. I also enjoy playing the piano to find a balance in my life and I play tennis to keep myself physically fit.

I dream of studying medicine after my A-levels. You have a lot of contact with technology there too, but there is also the balance of interacting with people and saving lives. I would also like to travel to New York City at some point in my life. I find the city very impressive, modern in parts and it has many landmarks that you have to see at some point. I would then try to photograph and capture these great moments. Nevertheless, I would also put the camera away and simply enjoy the moment.

I chose the photographic theme to get a different perspective from the normal art lessons. I simply find it much better to take several well-considered photos to look at the world from different angles and to be able to tell little stories and also get perspectives from other places in the world.

In addition to equestrian sports, I am very interested in agriculture. We have a large farm here at home. When I’m not on the horse, you can find me on our tractors. As I love farming, I would like to study agriculture after school and take over my parents’ farm.

Day in the Life

Three interesting things about myself is I love the Lord, I love dancing, and I love skateboarding. I grew up in a Christian household. My grandma, she’s deep into Christianity my grandma raised me.

I have like 4 mothers. Because my gran raised me when My grand wasn’t there, it was my aunties.
I started skateboarding young actually. Like early early grade 6. I got my first skateboard.

Dancing is also something I picked up from my mother and my friend. My mom, if you had to see her back in the day, she used to be able to breakdance like Michael Jackson.

I chose my topic of a day in the life of a professional to show the talent and high work ethic of people in Delft. My exhibit is changing minds by showing the world that we are not as barbaric and evil as we are often made out to be.

My name is Cleo Hendrick and three interesting things about myself is that I’m kind, I like to work hard, and I like gardening. We have a community garden to get more children involved so that they will be off the streets.
My topic that I choose was street photography. And the best thing out of it is to meet different people with different characters. The most interesting person that I met while taking pictures was the man fixing pipes down the street. His name was Yasim.  And, he’s been doing it for 38 years to provide for his family.

My photos for the people in Germany will tell a different story because while they think that it’s all about lions walking around in the streets, it’s actually about people working in their community,  trying to change what is actually happening here and  providing for themselves and their families.

I’m Jonas, I’m 16 years old and I live on a farm near Malchin. I am the youngest of 4 siblings. My parents are happily married and work in agriculture. That’s why I’m particularly interested in farming. In my free time, apart from school, I spend time with
my friends and my parents’ farm. After I finish school, I want to do an apprenticeship as a farmer.
After successfully completing my apprenticeship, I want to go to Australia for a year with a friend and work in agriculture there.
I’m sure I’ll be able to gain a lot of experience and then possibly go on to study agriculture. My ultimate goal is to take over my
parents’ farm. But there’s still time until then, so let’s get back to the photography course. I decided to do the photography course because I had already worked with a camera at my former school and I am fascinated by successful pictures. The project also sounded exciting and I think I can learn a lot from it.

My name is Zohrah Maharaj. I live in Delft, I attend Rosendaal High. My hobby is doing art and I’m happy to do photography as it will give me a larger field of experience for my strength. I’ve learnt in this recent session about the different types of framing, another thing I’ve learnt is that there are many ways water can be abused. This session also allowed me to pierce through the lenses of other people’s eyes and see the way they perceived the information received and see how they dealt with it. What I’ve learnt from the photography class is that you don’t need a lens to see the entire picture.

I am interested in art, and I plan to work towards becoming an architect. My mother wants me to also become a draftsman, so I thought architecture would be the way to go since I can build things like Islamic mosques. I really wanna do something to contribute towards my religion because I’ve not been in a very religious family, but I’ve seen other Muslims know a lot about our religion, and I always felt left out. I want my art to have meaning and not just do it when I’m frustrated.

I started painting and drawing because my mother painted something and it really made me feel nice and calm because whenever I saw it, the colors were cool toned and warm.
My dream is to actually become an independent woman, not to depend on anyone. And I help people in my community  Because we’ve suffered through a lot, and it’s not nice to see others that you know go through things such as hurting themselves.  So my real dream is to just make everything much better than it was, because my generation is going through a lot.

I spend a lot of time with my friends in my free time,  as it provides a good change from the sometimes boring school day. But not  only my friends are a good diversion, I also play the piano, among other  things.

I would like to study after I graduate from my A-Levels. I’m planning to do a  Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering. I could also  imagine running a company with my father one day where we pursue our  dreams.

I chose the photography course because it offers a change from the normal  art lessons. I would also like to learn more about cameras, perspectives and  technology. I find working with the camera very interesting and especially the  aspect of what you can say with a single image. Everyone has a different  interpretation and perception of images.

My name is Lina, I’m 16 years old and I’m attending the 10th grade at the Fritz-Greve-Gymnasium in Malchin. There I got the opportunity to choose the photography course. I chose the photography course because I wanted to gain more knowledge about cameras and wanted to improve my camera skills. Also because I enjoy taking pictures myself. As well as taking pictures, I’m happy to get to know more about Africa. I live in a small village close to Malchin. Besides German I can speak some English and French.

In my free time I like to play volleyball. Therefore it does not matter if it’s beach volleyball or indoor volleyball. I also enjoy reading and listening to music. Another interest of mine is fashion. Since a short time I am trying to sew my own clothes. But I mostly recycle old clothes or secondhand clothes and try to make something new and interesting out of it. However I am still learning how to sew by myself so often I do some mistakes but that is the progress of learning.

In school I often get confronted with the question what I want to do in the future. Not like others who know exactly what they want to do after school, I just have no idea what to do with my future. I don’t know if I want to study, go abroad and travel or try out different jobs.

I’m a people’s person. I like to communicate with people. I like to get to know people.

I’m the person I am today because of my grandma, what she has taught me. She taught me everything I know right now, she was very tough on me since day 1.

My focus point was to show the people professional jobs, but something you don’t have to study for. To show them that, you can become something, when you have nothing. And I focus on the waste removers and to show the people that they are also professionals, and we need them in our daily lives. I see that, many people say that it’s an embarrassing job, but clearly, we are the ones that need them.

You can’t always reach your dreams or there’s some blockages on the road, but then you have to find a way out.

I want the people to know that Delft isn’t just a place where crime takes place, but it’s also a place to make people get pruned and developed.

I am Klara. I am a 16 years old girl. Me and my family live in a small village located in the north-east of Germany. My family constellation is difficult to understand. I have two half-brothers and a half-sister, but they are not siblings. Either we have the same mother or the same father. I am the youngest child of us, so everyone already moved out. Right now I live together with my mom and her boyfriend and my two step sisters. They are twins. It is new for me to be the old sister, I kinda like it.

I also like to attempt new, funny things everey day. I want to feel the intensity of all small things in my life.  If there is some time left, I play Volley-Ball with my lovely team and I learn some rythmics and melodys on the Violin-Cello.

I already learned a lot about taking pictures, but this is not the only reason why I wanted to be a part of this project. I always want to learn new, incredible things about the world and their countrys.  And I also can learn new things about MY home, MY environment and the people next to ME.
